Kill The Past is a blanket label attached to an unspecified number of game developer Goichi Suda's (Suda51) games. The label was created due to his games sharing many story elements, characters, and plot elements across multiple games and even across different companies. With no official series or franchise title to apply to these games, the name Kill The Past was selected, taken from a phrase regularly referred to across his games.
The name became somewhat debated as nearly everything with Goichi Suda's name in the credits connects to something else in some fashion. His works are so varied in setting and tone, and the connections between his games are so presented in such varied ways that it became difficult to properly refer to everything as a series. Is Kill The Past a set few of his games? Those that connect the closest? Those that simply carry the theme of 'killing the past'?
Due to this, Kill The Past begins with different games for different people and contains different games based on one's impression of the game's content. Nearly every 'Kill The Past' guide one could find online will be different.
As for me? Kill The Past doesn't exist to me, nor does it play a role in my relationship to his games.
Kill The Past just sounds damn cool, doesn't it? So I used it anyway. Despite that, this is a list of Suda51 works- beyond games, beyond companies, beyond continuities, beyond Kill The Past! Suda51 is gaming punk rock; it won't ever cleanly fit into genres or series.
